In February, 2012 Jackson County Farm Bureau's Board of Directors, Promotion and Education Committee, County Issues Committee and Farmers CARE Action Team began presenting a semi-monthly radio program on local station WKHM-970AM/101.5FM to highlight the role of agriculture in Jackson County and how it affects our local economy and quality of life. The programs are also used to publicize Farm Bureau projects and events and the activities of our area's agri-businesses.

On the first and third Wednesday of each month, Host Greg O'Connor has a conversation with members of our agriculture community from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. The target audience is urban households in the Jackson area that influence the politics, directions and social trends of Jackson County. Our goal is to share with them the importance of agriculture to THEIR daily lives.

Topics have ranged from Farmers CARE and the environment, facts about the Farm Bill, water quality issues, drought conditions, crop insurance, the proposed Child Labor Regulation changes, 4-H and FFA opportunities, Young Farmer activities, careers in agriculture, the county fair, Breakfast on the Farm, Project RED, and buying local foods. If you have a topic to suggest, please call the office at 517-784-9166 or send an e-mail to

We have partnered with local businesses to share in the cost and are looking for more sponsors to continue this valuable program. If you know of a business that would like to be involved in this terrific project, call the office at 517-784-9166 or send an e-mail to
