There are two scholarship opportunities available!


 

#1     ♦  2017 Jackson College Agriculture Program Scholarship  ♦

Description:

The Jackson County Farm Bureau Jackson College Ag Program Scholarship is awarded each year to one or more outstanding graduating senior planning to enroll in the agricultural program at Jackson College for the fall of 2017. Scholarships are awarded based on leadership, community activities, GPA, educational and career plans. Scholarship amounts will range between $100- $250 and include one year’s paid Farm Bureau membership.

Qualifications:

1. Preference will be given to Regular and Associate members; or the son or daughter of a Jackson County Farm Bureau member (regular or associate). Farm Bureau membership is encouraged but not required.

2. Applicant must be enrolled as a full time student (12 credit hours or equivalent) for the fall of 2017 in the Agriculture Program at Jackson College.

3. Should the school semester or term not be completed for any reason other than illness, the money shall be returned.

Requisites:

1. Completed personal information pages.

2. Copy of current high school or college transcript.

3. One letter of recommendation from an instructor, employer or non-related community member. Letters should address your work ethic, leadership skills and community involvement.

Selection:

1. The selection of recipient(s) will be made by a committee chosen by the Board of Directors of the Jackson County Farm Bureau.

2. The determination of the appropriate recipient(s) will be based upon:

  • Completion of all the requisites and application.
  • Submission of the requisites and application by July 1st. Entries postmarked beyond July 1st will not be considered.
  • A review of the applicant’s academic achievements, career goals, and character.
  • Finalists may be required to attend a personal interview.

Disbursement:

1. Winners will be notified by August 1st, by phone and/or email.

2. Recipients will also be encouraged to attend the 2017 Jackson County Farm Bureau Annual meeting on Sunday, August 27th.

3. Payment will be made upon the successful completion of one semester/term of study with a GPA of no less than 2.5, and proof of enrollment for a second semester/term.

Qualifications:

1. The applicant must be a Regular or Associate Member of Jackson County Farm Bureau, or the son or daughter of a Regular or Associate Member.

a. Applicants may also be nominated by a Regular Jackson County Farm Bureau member. To nominated an applicant; a one page letter of support for the applicant must be attached to the completed application.

2. Applicant must be a full time student (12 credit hours or equivalent) for the fall of 2017.

3. Applicants may use the scholarship for attending a college of their choice; including community and trade schools.

4. Should the school semester or term not be completed for any reason other than illness, the money shall be returned.

Requisites:

a. One from a teacher, coach or other school employee

b. One from an employer or non-related community member.

4. A one-page (1” margins, 12 point font, single spaced) essay describing your goals and future role in the agricultural industry.
