Agricultural Labor & Safety Services (ALSS)
(Formerly the Regulatory Compliance Assistance Program)
Contract Safety Program services are now available. Full Service Programs provide safety and facility surveys, documented safety programs, consulting on many regulatory issues, and employee/management training. These programs have a proven record of reducing injuries across all industries and can provide significant reductions in insurance costs.
ALSS provides subscription labor, safety, environmental, and regulatory information programs. The Farm Manual For Michigan Farmers provides a comprehensive review of state and federal labor and labor related to regulatory material. The RCAP Newsletter provides detailed information on regulatory management issues. Additional safety, documentation and compliance materials are available. Panelized vinyl Labor Postings are available including agricultural specific postings.
Through a grant to Michigan Farm Bureau from the Department of Labor & Economic Growth, ALSS will be offering free Farm Safety Seminars this winter and spring. This year the focus will be: Evaluating Preparedness and Response Principles, Hazard Assessment, Emergency Plan Elements, Farm Fatality Assessment, Tractor Overturns: Prevention and Protection, ATVs as Tractors, Respirator Issues for Pesticides and other Chemicals and Rules of the Road. Of these topic areas, each Safety Seminar will be pertinent to local crops and issues such as transportation, electrical, large equipment, bin entry/confined space, pesticide use, local first responder training, written safety plans, and many other available topics.
We will offer 2 pesticide applicator recertification core credits for commercial and private applicators for the 3-hour long seminars.
